Today, two of the biggest names in their respective fields bring an exciting new development to the (ever-more-literally) colorful world of 3D printing, as Stratasys and Adobe announce a new partnership joining 3D design with Adobe’s popular Photoshop CC platform.

Announced today at Adobe MAX 2015 in LA, the partnership is intended to provide users the capability to send files directly from Photoshop to Stratasys Direct Express for production. Available immediately, this system takes out a few steps in the process, allowing for a streamlined process straight from the design stage right to production quotes, manufacturing validation, and final previewing–all from Photoshop.

The partnership affords professional creative designers significant autonomy in all stages of their design process, as they can go from the drawing board with the digital tools Photoshop CC provides through the self-directed steps of the Stratasys Direct Express site, powered by Stratasys Direct Manufacturing.

Stratasys is acting as a Gold Sponsor of Adobe MAX 2015, going on now in Los Angeles. Stratasys’ booth features work showcasing the company’s capabilities with works from Jason Lopes, Nick Ervinck, and Shajay Booshan, each highlighting through their designs the full-color 3D printing offerings possible with Stratasys’ technology. Lopes hails from Legacy Effects, a Hollywood special FX company we’ve enjoyed covering in the past, while Ervinck is an artist and Booshan is the head of computation and design at Zaha Hadid Architects.
The team at Stratasys is also offering a competition for those attending Adobe MAX. Two winners daily will receive $1,000 toward Stratasys Direct Express 3D printing services.
